The GHS Clinical Academy

In complex care, the workforce is the product.

The Clinical Academy is how GHS industrialises competence — building, assessing and sustaining the skills that make safe complex care possible.

Vision

To become a centre of excellence for clinical education, competency assurance and workforce development — enabling GHS Healthcare to deliver safe, compassionate, person-centred and clinically governed care across adult and children’s pathways.

Mission

To ensure every GHS staff member is trained, assessed, supervised and supported to deliver care safely and confidently — with clear evidence for CQC, commissioners, families, case managers and strategic partners.

Faculty structure

Seven faculties, phased over 24 months

The Academy is built division by division, beginning with the Complex Care Training Faculty — the capability that most directly assures safety at the highest acuity.

01 Built first

Complex Care Training Faculty

The founding division — high-acuity clinical skills for tracheostomy, ventilation, epilepsy, enteral feeding and more.

02

Mandatory & Core Skills Faculty

The essential, regulator-aligned training every member of the workforce holds and maintains.

03

The Staff Quality Wheel

Six controls that assure every member of the team

Every person delivering GHS care passes through the same six controls — from values-based recruitment to audit — before and throughout their deployment.

01

Values-based recruitment

Recruited for the right values before skills.

02

Enhanced vetting

Enhanced DBS, right-to-work, full history & referencing.

03

Task-specific training

Trained to each clinical task before deployment.

04

Observed competency

Assessed in practice and signed off — No Competence, No Deployment.

05

Clinical supervision

Ongoing registered-professional supervision & support.

06

Audit & review

Continuous audit feeding the monthly quality dashboard.
